John Jones (Archdeacon of Liverpool)
John Jones (1791–1889)〔(National Archives )〕 was the second Archdeacon of Liverpool,〔(British History On-line )〕 serving from 1855〔''THE NEW ARCHDEACON OF LIVERPOOL.'' Jones was born on 5 October 1791 and 〔D. L. Thomas, ‘Jones, John (1791–1889)’, rev. M. C. Curthoys, Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, Oxford University Press, 2004 (accessed 9 Aug 2015 )〕educated at St John's College, Cambridge.〔(Venn Database )〕 He was ordained deacon on 19 February, 1815, and priest on 24 December, the same year. After a curacy at St Mary, Leicester he was Vicar of St Andrew, Liverpool until 1980 and then Christ Church, Waterloo until 1889.
He died on 5 December 1889.〔 ''DEATH OF ARCHDEACON JONES'' Berrow's Worcester Journal (Worcester, England), Saturday, December 07, 1889; pg. 8; Issue 10234〕 His son won the VC〔(Liverpool Echo )〕 while serving as a 25 years old lieutenant in the 9th Lancers during the Indian Mutiny.
